The Peace Coalition of Monterey County will hold a candlelight vigil to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States in 1945.
This community-wide Candlelight Vigil will begin at sunset, 8:08 pm Pacific Time, on Thursday, August 6, 2020. The lights will shine to honor the victims of the nuclear attacks. The lights are a visible reminder to the community that nuclear weapons are #StillHere and continue to threaten humanity.
This is a shelter-in-place action. Participate in the vigil by placing an LED candle on your porch, driveway, or in a street-facing window each night, starting on August 6th. Participants are encouraged to keep the candle lit each night through September 21st, which is the United Nations International Day of Peace.
