Go, Granny D! – “You’re Never Too Old To Raise A Little Hell”, Monday, July 22, 7pm

The LIVE touring show at the Peace Resource Center.  Highlighting the story of Doris “Granny D” Haddock, and featuring actress Barbara Bates Smith and her musical accompanist Jeff Sebens— On the road—entertaining and empowering folks—to get the money out of politics and to restore our democracy!

Granny D, a ninety-year-old in 2000, was considered a national heroine as she completed a walk from Los Angeles to Washington DC for election reform. Her memoir, Granny D, was praised by supporters John McCain, Jimmy Carter, and Bill Moyers.  She continued bipartisan reform efforts, including a countrywide voter registration drive, before her death in 2010.

Barbara Bates Smith, noted for her Off-Broadway adaptation and performance of “Ivy Rowe” from Lee Smith’s Fair and Tender Ladies, has toured for twenty years .  For a decade,  Jeff Sebens has accompanied her shows with a variety of hammered dulcimer, lap dulcimer, guitar, and banjo music.  Discussion after the performance.  More information is on her website:www.barbarabatessmith.com
